A boiler maintenance tool that removes overlay, membrane between tubes, and bevels simultaneously and is faster, easier, and more accurate than hand grinding has been introduced by Esco Tool of Holliston, MA.
The Esco Wart MILLHOG® Boiler Tube Machining Tool features a proprietary membrane and overlay cladding removal head that creates a clean bevel, all in one operation. Ideally suited for new and existing tubes, it uses TiN coated cutter blades to machine highly alloyed or high chrome content boiler tubes without needing cutting fluids.
Featuring a heat-treated draw rod assembly with clamps that expand on the mandrel and mount rigidly to the tube I.D., the Esco Wart MILLHOG® machines water boiler tubes from 0.75″ to 3″ O.D. Offered with pneumatic or electric motors, this robust tool has dual opposed tapered roller bearings, operates with minimal vibration, and a has sealed mandrel keeps debris out.
