The Blade Lock holds the Cutter Blade in the Cutterhead and delivers superior holding force compared to Cutter Blades held by screws.
Cutter Blade life can be attributed to several things and one of the most dramatic is heat on the Cutter Blade cutting edge. To control the heat, you have to control vibration. The control, or lack of control, of vibration directly affects the heat generated on the Cutter Blades cutting edge and corresponds directly to the quantity of preps a Cutter Blade will produce.
To control heat, ESCO developed the ESCO Blade Lock system that produces superior Cutter Blade holding force. Compared to a simple screw that has only the tip of the screw to hold the Cutter Blade, the ESCO Blade Lock contacts the entire face of the Cutter Blades corresponding clamping surface and rigidly holds the Cutter Blade in place, minimizing vibration and the consequent heat build-up that deteriorates the cutting edge.
